Kevin Gregg, RHP, closer
Gregg has shown a variety of pitches of pitches in his career. He has a good straight fastball in the low-90s and a downward breaking slider. He throws a splitter as his primary off-speed pitch. Sometimes it dives, sometimes it acts like a changeup. However, Gregg also throws a changeup that he turns over, making it sink and look like a 2-seamer. 4/3/08 CSJ

*fastball(90-95), slider(82-86), splitter(83-87), change(86)

Mark Hendrickson, LHP, starter
Hendrickson is a tall man. His fastball is in the upper-80s and fairly straight. Hendrickson mixes in a baby hook of a curveball and a hard changeup. His change doesn't vary enough from his fastball to be very effective. In the past Hendrickson was known for throwing a cutter, but he seems to have abandoned this pitch. 3/29/08 CSJ

Matt Lindstrom, RHP, reliever
Lindstrom has a great arm. He has a fastball that can touch 100mph and a big breaking slider to go with it. The former Mets farmhand has tried to learn a splitter and will mix those in occasionally. 4/3/08 CSJ

*fastball(95-98), slider(81-87), split(87-89)

Andrew Miller, LHP, starter
Miller throws a fastball/slider combo. He varies his fastball considerably, between 87-96mph. At the lower velocities, the fastball gets decent movement. Miller is definitely not afraid to pitch inside, consistently pounding his fastball in on RHs. His slider is a big sweeper that sails off LH's bats. Miller will also mix in a few hard changeups, but they don't vary enough from his fastball to be very effective. Touted as the next Randy Johnson, Miller seems to have lost much of the college velocity that brought him that hype. 4/3/08 CSJ

*fastball(87-95), slider(71-80), changeup

Ricky Nolasco, RHP, starter
Nolasco has a somewhat unique repertoire. He has a cutting fastball in the low-90s that can fool hitters. He has a slider and a big breaking curveball he throws in the low-70s. Lastly, his offspeed pitch is a splitter that gets decent drop. 4/8/08 CSJ

*fastball(86-94), curve(69-78), split(79-80), slider(81-86)

Taylor Tankersley, LHP, reliever
Tankersley was supposed to be the closer of the future, but it looks like he has already lost the velocity necessary to be a dominant relief pitcher. His fastball touches 90mph at times, but that's it. The lefty has a decent slider and straight changeup to go with it. 4/3/08 CSJ

*fastball(87-89), slider(78-82), change(81)

Rick VandenHurk, RHP, starter
Henricus VandenHurk is a hard thrower. He gets good velocity on a fastball that seems very straight. The Dutchman will throw a big 12-6 curveball and a straight changeup. To mix it up, he shows a tight slider to RHs. Overall his repertoire looks good, but the results have varied. 3/29/08 CSJ

Joe Nelson, RHP, reliever
Nelson always seems to be battling back from injuries, having had both TJ and shoulder surgeries. He has always posted good minor league numbers as a reliever, and even served as Kansas City's closer for part of '06. As far as his stuff, he brings a low-90s fastball that gets some sink. Then he drops in a 'vulcan' changeup. He has shown breaking balls in the past, but usually relies on just two pitches. 5/27/08 CSJ

*fastball(86-92), changeup(77-82), slider(85)

Doug Waechter, RHP, reliever
As a reliever, Dougie relies on this fastball/slider combination. He has been known to throw a splitter but I haven't seen it yet in '08. Waechter is a former Hudson Valley Renegade. 5/27/08 CSJ

*fastball(89-93), slider(82-87), splitter

Renyel Pinto, LHP, reliever
Pinto has a decent three-pitch arsenal. His fastball has deceptive speed from his 3/4 arm slot. He throws many changeups off the fastball to RH and LH. Lastly, he'll bring a sweeping slider to the plate. 5/27/08 CSJ

*fastball(88-92), changeup(79-83), slider(77-80)

Logan Kensing, RHP, reliever
Logan still throws hard, maybe even harder now after TJ surgery. His fastball can pop the mitt in the low-mid 90s. His slider is his bread and butter pitch though, sweeping off the plate. Kensing likely offers a changeup to LHs on occasion. 5/28/08 CSJ

*fastball(91-94), slider(78-80)

Scott Olsen, LHP, starter
The "hot-headed" Scott Olsen is often seen pitching with an ice-water soaked hat. He has a very tight slider with a very short break. Half the time it doesn't appear to break much, if at all. His fastball is a decent pitch when he moves it in and out to hitters. Olsen also throws a straight changeup. His changeup used to be a distant third in his repertoire, but now he seems to command it decently and will often mix it in against RHs. 7/30/08 CSJ

*fastball(85-91), slider(78-86), changeup(81-85)

Josh Johnson, RHP, starter
Johnson has returned to the mound in '08 with a new, freshly repaired elbow. His fastball is still excellent, clocking in in the low-mid 90s, getting 2-seam movement at times. Johnson deals a tight slider as his breaking pitch, throwing it away from RHs and backdooring LHs. His third pitch is a sinking changeup. 8/1/08 CSJ

*fastball(91-96), slider(84-90), changeup(86-90)

Justin Miller, RHP, reliever
Miller throws a fastball/slider/splitter combination. His fastball tails and bores in on RHs. Miller's slider is a big breaker, and he will mix in an unpredictable split-finger pitch. Also, if you give him $1000, he'll tatoo your name on his right buttock. 8/9/08 CSJ

*fastball(88-92), slider(77-82), splitter(79-83)

Lee Gardner, RHP, reliever
Gardner is a sinkerballer. He throws lots of running 2-seamers that dart away from LHs. Off of the sinker, he'll throw a cutter to both LHs and RHs. Once ahead in the count, Gardner will drop in a big curveball and a split-finger pitch. The splitter acts mostly like a changeup, inducing weak groundballs and the occasional whiff. 4/3/08 CSJ

*fastball(sinker), cutter, splitter, curve
