Carlos Zambrano, RHP, starter
|
| |
Zambrano is a circus. He throws tons of fastballs with varying degrees of movement. His 2-seamers will run towards his arm-side and his 4-seamers will stay somewhat straight. He'll also mix in lots of cut fastballs that he'll throw to any batter, but often ducks it behind LH's bats. Carlos has a standard slider that appears to just spin up to the plate at times. Zambrano starts each delivery by gripping a splitter while looking for the signs. Like most splitters, his will dive when he keeps it down, and float like a changeup when he leaves it up. Lastly, he'll throw a very slow lob for a curveball on occasion. 6/24/08 CSJ

Bob Howry, RHP, reliever
|
| |
Howry relies on his low-90s fastball to get hitters out. He'll throw 75% or more fastballs. Howry owns a sharp slider as his second pitch, and an offspeed changeup a distant third. 6/24/08 CSJ
*fastball(89-92), slider(81), changeup

Jose Ascanio, RHP, reliever
|
| |
Jose Ascanio, not to be confused with the old knuckleballing Yankees BP pitcher, is a hard throwing Venezuelan. He has a low-90s fastball and a sinking changeup. Ascanio mixes in a few sliders. 6/24/08 CSJ
*fastball(92-94), changeup(84-86), slider(80)
